There was a survey that went through owners hands several months ago pitching potential options for the future. Among them were an electric drivetrain and hybrid electric. I wouldn't expect to see either of those solutions for at least 2 years.
Not interested in a electric. Love sitting next to the engine with it screaming in my face. I think weight would be an issue and I like not having to worry about recharging. I wouldn't have been able to do 11 hours in it a couple weeks ago. I will stick with my gas guzzler.
Snarkiness and sarcasm aside, I think there is some benefit to either Polaris creating a EV-Slingshot or someone hacking and replacing a salvaged EV (say Nissan Leaf or even a Zero motorcycle) and fitting it into a Slingshot. i guess what got my interest was this recent youtube from Rich Rebuilds where he outfits an old rat rod with salvaged Zero motorcycle. The most interesting thing was a throwaway line at the end of the video where he says the same motor converted a trex and a vanderhall, trikes very similar in size and weight to the SS.
And here's the etrex- notice that the same display from the zero motorcycle is used, meaning it s likely the same engine
