I recently replaced tires and wheels on my truck and in my research found this very useful tool.
http://www.willtheyfit.com/index.php?width=255&aspect=35&diameter=20&wheelwidth=9&offset=45&width2=295&aspect2=30&diameter2=20&wheelwidth2=10.5&offset2=45#content
As you can see I've been playing with it a lil bit in regards to the rear tire. My measurements show a clearance of 1 1/4" from the current tire/wheel to the shock. In the above 295 tire it adds only 3/4" to each side for a total width of 1.5" over the stock setup.
If you maintain the 45mm original offset, which I plan to do, you could go slightly wider. What's difficult is finding a suitable tire in a 295 width, but the search continues.
I know that there are other calculators available out there, I just found this one simple and very useful.

All that information made me dizzy, but then again so does tying my shoes sometimes. Lol.
