Took it for a run yesterday and the redline issue is solved, but, without the cat it is much louder and drones. I also get massive back fires after hard runs and then let off the pedal. I will call Jeff at Welter to see what I can do about sound issue now.

Also, the hopping is still there, I hit the throttle in second around 40 and it bucked like a bronco until I let off the gas, then I stepped on it again and it did it again. The traction control was still on so I turned it off and after that it was fine. What sends the signal for the traction control?

I believe I run 30 in the rear, it is a high traction tire. I do have adjustable shocks and they are set at the height that was set at the factory in the back. It came on while already well up in the RPM band in second gear after a Camaro took off in front of me and I had to show him I could compete. I stayed up with him but the jerking caused me too loose a lot time, lol.

I have had this issue since I bought the SS new but with the extra power it seems to be worse now.

Do you think I am running too rich now? The back firing in the exhaust is pretty bad some times a huge POP and other times a series of smaller pop pop pop when I take my foot off the gas. The gauge shows rich a well most of the time.

Did you have the problem with the hopping with the stock suspension and tires?

With the forced induction tune on there it is pretty common to get a pop when you let off the gas, typically if it is really popping, that indicates an exhaust leak. The exhaust leak allows air to enter the exhaust with the unburnt fuel and ignite, which creates a pop. You also might need to drive the Slingshot around for a little bit for the fuel trims to re-learn a little bit. With the exhaust restriction you had, the ECM would have been injecting extra fuel that wasn't needed. Now that the restriction has been removed, the ECM will need to adapt some back to the correct values.

Yes, I like to go for long rides and a loud exhaust kills the enjoyment. I am working with Welter to replace the old Cat with a larger muffler after the head. Right now it has a small one right after the cat.

That is what I was wondering Dave, would it be better to clear the ECM by disconnecting over night or just drive easy until it relearns?

Yes, I have had the hop from day one with the old suspension and the new tire and shocks has not made any change to it.
The bucking feels more like the fuel is being cut off then back on as if you were to push the throttle then release many times in a row. It can do it from stand still or during fast acceleration while at speed.

I am going to get some high temp RTV and try to get a good seal at all connections other than the header to head.

cant wait to see what u think of the new front muffler section since we know now a Cat wont work with the supercharger on 285hp setting. I want quiet. What ever u do don't use the muffler paste welter sends with his exhausts it turns to concrete and cant get it off nothing with out using grinding wheel it almost ruins the pipes. That stuff is next to the muffler stuff at auto parts store I made that mistake before steer clear of it.

Looks like you found your bucking problem right there. If your traction control is on, it is going to cut power when the rear wheel speed sensor has a much higher reading than the fronts.

If I am driving aggressively, I turn off the traction control. In this way, it doesn't cut any power and mess with AFRs when spinning in a straight line. As soon as you get crooked and things get out of control, the stability control is still active and will kick in. DON'T hold the button and turn off both. You will have a scary donut machine!

Superchargers will always be louder than turbos. It is nature of the beast. Be careful on how much restriction you put back on the exhaust system.

The only concern I have is that no other owners have reported this problem. Also it has done this with the traction control turned off but not as often. I rode in another SS and it did not do this at all, I could tell when the traction control kicked it but it did not buck.

Is the controlled by the speed sensor at the back that is bolted up under the swing arm?

I just bought some Hi temp copper RTV but yes, I used the stuff he sent with the kit so I may have fight to get it cleaned off the second connection. I really doubt I have an exhaust leak but I will eliminate every possibility to get this working as it should.

Well the engine light came on, the code is 65557 Stabilty control can messages lost. So I wonder if this has anything to do with the hopping I have been getting? Where would I look for this in the system?

I went for 100 mile ride sanely, lol. No hops but I think there was a start of one at one point with traction control on. Other wise she behaved well other than the loud exhaust that we are working on. The engine light went off sometime during the ride, I think it was about 50 miles in when I stopped for lunch.

So far so good, it seems like got rid of the gremlins. I still get a very loud back fire now and then but I have checked for leaks all the way to the first muffler. I have a new setup coming so I will be very careful to ensure no leaks when it comes.

I can’t wait to see what u think about this new quieter front muffler. I talked to Jeff last week and I am going have him build something for me to like he did for u. On your setup did u get rid of the middle muffler u had under the middle of the SS that comes with the stealth setup. Jeff was telling me about this new muffler he got for u, so I can’t wait to see what it sounds like and hope no drone

The new one is certainly an ugly duckling, lol but I read up on it and the science sounds interesting. Not exactly chambered, it has internal baffles that cause the hot gases to swirl before exiting. No, I do not need to remove the center muffler so it may help to reduce noise further.
