Any ideas why the SL will have a narrower wheel and tire versus the standard model (while the front wheels/tires are wider)?

Good question
The rim size of the SL 9 inches
The Standard model is 9 1/2 inches
??????!!!!!!!!!

I understand that they trying to keep down The difference in the overall diameter, but why in the width ?
They could've went with a 30 instead of the 35 or less and keep The same diameter so a wider tire would fit!!

BTW on a 9 inches you can fit up to 275 wide
Firestone has an existing tire and I'm sure other companies has the same tire size as well.
/fire heart/ 275/35r20
And you can go with the 30 instead of the 35

From the pictures of the rear. The shock looks real close to the tire. Anyone comment on this that' seen it first hand. I really want a larger rear tire.( Wider)
Thanks

True , I myself try to go at a lower offset. But in a long run eventually the wheel hub bearing will wear out. The handling of the car is often affected too.
