Question on boosting

I know a little but I not a lot so my question is this.

With a SS and adding a supercharger, what other components would need needed other than intake and exhaust? Obviously quality fuel and tuning but what about the internals? When do you start needing forged rods/pistons and everything else?

With our base supercharger kits you can run the complete stock exhaust and catalytic converter if you would like, however you will make less horsepower than with an aftermarket exhaust and no catalytic converter installed (stock hp is 145, supercharger, stock exhaust and catalytic converter 225hp, supercharger with catless exhaust 280hp). Typically most of our supercharger customers have at a minimum an aftermarket exhaust installed on their Slingshot though since it is a large difference in power. The tune and intake are included with our kit. So far, no one has blown an engine with our base supercharger kit that I know of, that is without ARP head studs or anything else installed in the engine. Typically we start recommending forged rods and pistons and engine builds when you start getting over 300hp to the wheels on the turbocharged engines, but the Slingshots with our supercharger are living a little higher horsepower than that right now.

Hope that helps,
Dave
Thanks Bugal, I'm sure I'll get it. Hearing you're happy with the sc power on an all stock sling I think just pushed me off the fence. What size pulley are you running with a stock setup?
Stock exhaust or 2" systems get the 110mm pulley on the supercharger.

Thanks Dave, in the post above you said the sc with stock exhaust is 225 hp at the wheel. I have the header with catless mufler & j pipe with 2" rear exit. What hp do you expect that will make?
Should still be right around that same power, since the exhaust is really the limiting factor.
