If you have a good cutting wheel, why not cut off excess plastic around the metal insert which has splines, then carefully cut the insert nearly thru, then hammer a wedge/screwdriver in the slot and it should crack off.

PS: the metal insert is about 1/2 in thick, and simple molded into the steering wheel.
Great idea. Few issues i see is all the sparks from cutting wheel need sometime to keep them from flying around. Going to remove black plastic around steering column today n see what kind of room I have to work n can i get my small grinder in place.

I am awaiting wokka stock wheel to cut it open n see exactly what I am dealing with once all plastics is removed. So frustrating. Will try again after lunch. If i cant get it i will plsce nut hand tight on shaft n bring it over to my mechanic. See what his idea is.
Was thinking some how secure come along cable around wheel n atrsch other end to ss roll bar n the crank n crank. My luck i will bend rollbar

Quick question @captaingene : Are you using the u-shaped puller with the open side down or up? I started with the open side up per the Slingmods video and pulled the welded nut off the back of it. When they replaced it I used it with the open side down and the bolts were too short. I found a couple that worked and finally got my wheel off.
I tried it both ways see picture. I even had to tap n made new thread on steering wheel n used thicker bolts. I have placed so much pressure on puller that it starts twisting n bending the bolts holding it in place. When it starts twisting the main bolt starts sliding off shaft as well. Someone suggested a puller from autozone n using washer to hold in place. That is my next option

Update I am done with using pullers n banging it with hammer. So this morning I took apart the plastic aroind column n removed the gauges. See pictures. i am going try n use my demal vibrating cutter. Heading to get new blades. i will start by cuttiing away plastic so I can move hose wires out of the way. The use cutter next to small threaded holes on steering steel. I know it's going to take awhile n i have to take my time so I don't mess up anything but I am determined to get this wheel off. At moment i feel defeated which only drives me to get the cutter out. I hope it works n if it does can help other in same situations. Worse come to worse will have to use vise grip to drive around lol. Just kidding. Anyone have any thoughts about this??? Will start later this afternoon n take some pictures

Do you have a large socket that would fit over the nut and touch the base of the steering wheel, without bottoming out on the nut? You could do it without the nut, but the nut will protect you.

I'd have someone pull on the steering wheel while hitting the socket with a sledge. You don't want to hit the nut hard, it will mess up the threads, but jar the hell out of the splines.

Of course, safety first!

Puller didnt work. Would you believe i even bend 1/4 bolts. Told my mechanics give him $100 if he can figure out how to pop this wheel off. Awaiting his reply. He has draws full of every kind of puller. Here is few pictures using auto zone wheel puller with 1/4 bolts. Won't budge

Update finally got wheel off.
Here is what i did. I retapped bolt hole to 1/4 size then ordered puller that someone here suggested from Amazon. Thank you along with suggestion to use Kroil. Kroil arrived an hour ago. Place some in turkey baster. N applied some to wheel hub after i heated it up then place new puller n 1/4 bolts with washer n slowly applied pressure n it finally came loose. See pictures. Now have to put plastic back on n line up new adaptor to some wheel is straight. So if anyone is having same issue this is what finally worked for me. Puller was $15 n has nice tapered adaptor on main nut of puller. Thanks to everyone who made suggestions.

This puller from Amazon has a rotating tip to avoid the problems you experienced - Amazon.com: ABN 13 Piece Harmonic Balancer Steering Wheel Puller Kit: Automotive. I had a heck of a time removing my stock Slingshot steering wheel and even tried a couple of different rental pullers from the auto parts stores. My post # 29, above describes what I did to let PB Blaster soak overnight and help break the steering wheel's set on the column.
Btw thanks for this suggestion this puller worked best. Especially once i tapped 1/4 bolts into hub. The 10/32 bolts are a joke when wheels been no a year or two. This puller was very steady with tappered adapter. Plus cheaper

Yes bolts were to short but tried it both ways. That puller wont work it wheel is rusted in place like mine was
