New Slingshot S seat storage locks

As some of you are aware, the new Slingshot S without the tech package does not come with locks on the seat storage doors. I have read people pay anything from $170 to $240 to get locks. Well, I just added locks for $8 for both. When bought in groups the locks all use the same key. I bent the lock tongue a little because I didn't want to need to push the rubber grommets in every time I locked the doors.

Camper storage locks 4 for $11. Ok, I need a couple for my camper.
L bracket, 4 for $3.
2 washers. The outer ring on the locks I received did not match the description. So, I had to add 1 washer for each lock.

The reason for locks isn't to just stop thieves. It is to make your vehicle harder to steal from than someone else's. Thieves are lazy for the most part and will usually move on when they see the locks. Plus, it cuts down on the opportunity thefts and smash and grabs - which make up most thefts from vehicles.

Locks keep honest people honest. Over 90 % of car thefts are smash and grabs. They aren't going to bother if there are locks and they can't see anything of value. When you park and fold your seat forward to block the heat or stop people from getting in, you are inviting people to reach in and open and steal anything that is in there. And they will.
It isn't about worrying or luck. It is about the responsibility to help kids and honest people stay honest.
