Who does the motorcycle wave to bikers when riding the SS?
We got ours a couple weeks ago, I’ve been watching to see if bike riders give the wave. I’d say about a third of them so far have. It may have been because my hand has been out in the wind.

In my area I have put 120,000 miles in the seat of the Slingshot and lots of the guys know me from Gold Wing to Slingshot and so I wave at most all and 95% wave back.

In the past I rode a 2 wheel Harley. I always wave, then and now, about the same amount of people wave back.

Having had motorcycles for 20 years, I still do the wave. I’d estimate I get a wave back about 1/2 the time. Only a couple of times did a biker wave first.

Some/many Harley riders refuse to acknowledge Slingshots as a 3 wheeled motorcycle. I understand. I wave and use the "2 down" sign if I have time. I'm not offended if they don't wave back - their option. I'm not even offended if I get a "unicycle" salute in return.

I too rode Harleys forever and always waved. Now on the SS I quit waving first because the lack of return waves and now I return the wave if they are first. I get offended myself when no wave back. Funny part is they dont know what they are missing out on : )

I understand a 2 wheeler not considering the SS a bike. It’s not. It does exist for the exact same reason, the simple joy of riding instead of transiting.
I don’t care very much if someone doesn’t give the wave. I’m enjoying myself either way.

I have a 4-wheel conversion and still get a very high return wave %. I think wearing a helmet helps other riders identify with you as a bike rider regardless of the number of wheels.

BTW, I now have a half-helmet and mid-length grey beard. This seems to improve the HD responses, lol

In my Northern Indiana area I get lots of waves from MC but also from lots of the higher end sports cars....

They give the two fingers down, I return it with three fingers down. I was surprised by my first wave was from a Harley rider, I almost wanted to wave back over my head. In my area I would say about 2/3 do initiate the wave.
I always try to wave first. If they don’t wave back I’m not the a hole.

Don’t ‘expect‘ or take offense when a return wave or ‘2-wheel down’ signal is not given. Especially in a Singshot, it’s an auto-cycle. Even if you’re on 2 wheels it isn’t a ’requirement’ from another rider. Getting butt-hurt or feelings hurt isn’t gonna solve anything. Flipping them off isn’t a justified reaction, only shows level of maturity and intolerance. It gets tiresome and unsafe to continually signal every rider when encountering many riding together or independently in close proximity in traffic. One should not feel obligated to give or return a salute.
I have many 2-wheeled rides and 3 trikes(2 V8’s and a Slingshot). I give ‘2-wheel down’ salute most of the time when on 2-wheels and shrug it off it not returned. If in traffic and meet many riders together, I abstain. My hands and fingers are on controls.
