Read the motorcycle.com review:

http://www.motorcycle..com/shoot-outs/polaris-slingshot-can-am-spyder-f3-morgan-3-wheeler

They state:

"In California, at least, a motorcycle endorsement on your driver’s license to legally operate them is not required, and the two with seatbelts eschew the state’s helmet law."

Can anyone confirm this to be true? I looked on the CA DMV website and could not find anything that clearly calls out that a helmet is not required if you have a seat belt.

By california law its a motorcycle so you need to have a helmet
I have heard that there is something that says if you have a seat belt and roll bars you don't have to wear a helmet in California. But I don't know where or what that is. It may be just a rumor. I don't know but I have heard it form a good source. I would like to look into this . This summer would be nice not to have to wear a helmet in 100+ DEGREE WEATHER.
I know I will always use eye protection. but really I don't think it should be necessary to wear a helmet on a Sling Shot.
Well you can have a half helmet in the summer.
I don't think there will be a problem, it looks more like a car or Roadster then a Motorcycle, and most cops or anyone else really don't know at least at this time what they are. ( LOL ) And I believe because they have roll bars and set belts we could talk our way out of a ticket . I am wearing a 1/2 helmet now for the warmth. keeps my head warm, don't care about the ears that much.
Well the only problem will happen when someone get in a accident with a ss and dont wear a helmet probably incurance dont pay
I agree the Insurance companies will look for any reason they can to get away with out paying.
I all so feel saver on the freeway with a helmet to much debris flying around
anyone know how much helmet citation would cost? in cali? what about other states?
Well if you dont have a helmet with you there probably tow you away :)
