The Slingshot kind of reminds me of when the Viper was released in 1992. It was a radical new concept and in my opinion started the OEM performance wars all over again.

I was reluctant to buy one and I am still mad at myself for chickening out. I was not sure how well they would be received, how well they would hold their value, what the quality would be like. ( I bought a 1992 ZR-1, that never lived up to it's hype and was smoked by several Vipers)

Within a month of hitting the showroom floors, the price was 10-15% over MSRP for a new one, if you could find a dealer that was not pre-sold out for the next year to buy one. NOBODY would sell a used one.

I spent the next few years nearly breaking my neck every time one drove by.

I will not make that mistake again.
Will their be issues with a BRAND NEW design? YES.
Will Polaris build stronger, faster Slingshots in the future? YES
But I will not be on the outside, looking in this time.

That's a good story to put everything in perspective. What's that saying "it's not about having what you want it's about wanting what you have."

Get what makes you happy and don't look back.
