Wow... I hadn't even considered that... V1, eh? Don't they use lasers now?

I'm still confused on the use of Radar as opposed to Lasers.
Radar uses radio waves for proof, laser uses a 904 nm wavelength IR laser to get speed information. Radar is much more prevalent, as it can be used in almost all weather, and while the LE vehicle is in motion. Laser enforcement equipment must be set up in a stationary position, and typically during fair weather(for the comfort of the LEO). Lasers advantage is that it is very focused to its intended target, limiting its exposure to being discovered. Radar scatters, and can be picked up from long distances. I've had hits on my V1 at over 10 miles in the desert. V1 is the best radar detector available. Please use responsibly. :)

Not on that run, but I probably will when I trek through west Texas on my way to Colorado :)
When you make this next PP SS pass, I hope you announce it prior. I missed the RZR runs, but have admired your efforts for years. This one I have to be present for (plus my family and I like interesting vacations, LOL).

The K40 I have is a radar detector with a laser defuser and can also detect every band of radar that emits different noises and visual alerts. There is also a highway mode and a city mode that removes X-band radar for greater accuracy.

The K40 is a nice piece. Please elaborate on what a "radar defuser" would be. Radar, and detection equipment is regulated by the FCC, and subject to very strict federal regulations and penalties for misuse. Laser is regulated by the FDA, and is under much less scrutiny, with state laws being the more pertinent in regards to countermeasure equipment.

I fixed it to what I meant to say, sorry. But yes, the laser defuser module is obviously separate from the radar detector.

That's really cool William! I will definitely keep this site posted if I ever decide to go back.

I did use the V1 got tried of it going off all the time! I use the Escort Passport 9500ix now with the Android app I can custom the settings, turn bands off. V1 had an upgrade not to too long ago but to go back to it would cost $250 I really don't know if the upgrade would be the some!

I'm thinking of getting the 9500CI, I just hate the 2K price tag. I could dig it for 1K, but it's hard to justify for me, I dont speed THAT much, but I want to be covered when i decide to break it loose on the highway or up in the rockies.

Its been a very long time since I had a radar detector and I just found out about laser jammers yesterday. Anyone have any experience or any thoughts on which one to get for the SS?

Thanks.

Got a feeling they'll be popular with the SS owners. Been a long time since I've owned one too so need to research all of the options. Might well pay for itself in the first couple times they save us.
