curious if anyone has any experience with a laser jammer? Difficult to determine if they are truly illegal or not based upon some of the things I've read. I clearly do not want to end up in jail. The fact is that when you're going 60 miles an hour you feel like you're going 90 so I'm not sure how much being I will be doing but it sure would be cool to get a laser track jammer anyway. Is it even possible for the police to find A surface on the Polaris slingshot to get an accurate reading using laser anyway? I am considering buying this one:

Most radars pick up the Radiator, so yes they will be able to clock you! And an SS may attract their attention anyway!
They may stop you for general principles just to see your ride! HA!

Most of them are good guys! Don;t speed (too much) and act crazy and they are your friends! Drive crazy and then they are looking out for the rest of us! (you probably need to be stopped)

Sure do have a lot of experience with a laser jammer .. It's my wife. Lasers have no effect on me when she is in the vehicle. I have never had a speeding ticket when she is with me. I get so nervous when she is with me. Because she is always saying "slow down ", "watch that curve", "you are going too fast "..... I once got a ticket for going too slow. She is the best laser jammer there is.

I've never heard that before. How would that work in the case of an EV?

First, Radar and Laser are different devices (even though they pretty much work in the same way). Second, Radar does not "pick up" on anything. The wave merely gets bounced back to the unit that makes the calculations. Anything with appreciable mass can be read on radar.

Another method that can't be detected is VASCAR. VASCAR is a timing method that times a vehicle as it travels past to preset locations and calculated the avg speed it took to traverse the pre measured distance.

Those damn white lines we have cutting across our highway are specifically for this. They will hover with a chopper at times and nail you from up above:banghead:

Some states the radar detectors and laser shifters are illegal. You high end ones have a switch so you can disable the laser shifter as you get closer and came down to speed. This I only know from reading on the interweb:D

My understanding is that the older "Radar" units bounced (picked up) their signal off of a reflected hard material like bumpers, metal body panels and similar so they would bounce off that surface to get their radar signature.

Corvettes and other non metal surfaces supposably had a slight lower bounce and many thought they were less trackable because of that, but the big metal radiator still bounced the signal. Vascar or other modern methods don't need any metal to reflect so all that goes out the window on those.

Best to just stay within a reasonable speed anyway. Most speeders are stopped because they are doing something else to attract their attention anyway.

Right, if you're fortunate enough to actually talk to a police officer on the side of the road. Automated enforcement is the new black.

That's what I've heard, and if you bounce (ie: brake) at the right time, it's supposed to scatter the radar wave a bit and give an inaccurate reading. I mean, that's what I know, but that part about the radiator is unfamiliar to me.

Radar can measure the speed of a baseball so a Vette is no problem. Radar and Laser really do work in the same way, they are in different parts of the spectrum of course.

Aint that the truth. I unfortunately know too much about this. Just wait until you are in your backyard and someone looks over your fence to serve you with a "camera" ticket. So much for going through a red light so a truck wouldn't rear end me. You cant explain that to a camera and it takes a lot of time and money to explain this to a judge.

I will get some type of reflective license plate cover. Just in case a camera decides to not like me.

I received a red light camera violation ticket in the mail ($!00.00) and it had a picture of me running the red light. So I sent them a PICTURE of a $100 Bill. Thought it was fair since they sent me a picture from the camera. A week later I received a second notice and this time they sent a picture of HANDCUFFS.........lol

My unnamed officer friends and I have tested nearly every detector that had been released of any quality in the last two years. We used the stalker 2 radar gun setup to test. As far as the longest detection the dual horn Escort Redline is just pure evil. And as far as a great long range and has GPS to mark false locations the hands down winner is the Escort Max

Now rhe 9500CI is a installed version of their Escort 9500 windshield mount. And it is great. But non of these mentioned do anything except alert for laser and radar.

I know that im going to hear a bunch of crap over this next remark. I have a picture on one of my laptops of my Valentine propping my closet door open. That is all its good for im my OPINION. The Valentine does alert fairly fast but when compared to the two escorts its a few seconds slower. I run a Escort Max in my F150 and a Escort Redline in my Mercedes.

As far as laser jammers go the ones mentioned may work. The problem is laser gun is going to report it as ERROR OR JAMMED. That usually gets u a ticket. Around north Alabama we dont have to worry about laser very much.

Please just take this as my testing and experience. Yours may be different than mine. If your in my neck of the woods I can prove my experiences. Just let me know your coming and we can get all the detectors together and do some more testing together.

Did.the old 9500CI have any laser shifting capabilities? I thought it had to be used with the k40.
