Keeping Black Plastic Black....

8714 Views 20 Replies 16 Participants Last post by  Wild Bill
As a Jeep Wrangler enthusiast I'm very aware that black plastic fades over time and the SS has a lot of it.
What products are ya'll using to keep the plastic looking new?
I've used "Wipe New" to restore plastic fenders on Jeeps but the SS isn't faded yet. I've also seen "Back to Black" and similar.

I hand washed mine for the first time today a it got me thinking about protectants and or conditioners.

So what's working well for everyone?

See below.. I was thinking about this. I've used other Chemical Guys products that are good.

The only thing I have been using is Turtle Wax "ICE", on all of the surfaces of the Slingshot. A lot of wax 'whitens' the black, the "ICE"
shines and shines all of the red and black....
what's wrong with black shoe polish?
Nothing..........That's what I use on the cracked sidewalls of my motorhome tires. Works great! :D
I was told by a friend that lived on a boat for years that 303 Aerospace protectant was the best product he ever used. I have some but have not used it long enough to have a firm opinion. All the reviews I have read rate it as an outstanding product. Available at some Marine stores and also is on Amazon

Folks,
I only use Plexus for the entire car (be ready for the price like $20-$30 per can) and then I do Wet-Wet ($20) for the black....you wont believe the look, its better than when I received it.

Show us. :).....Please.
Tire foam with a microfiber cloth, if it's really dirty I spray it with foam before I wash it. I've been using this on atvs for years.
Back to Black is like sex on black plastic pieces of cars.
I too, use turtle wax Ice. Gives nice shine on both paint and black plastic.
ICE ICE BABY

Only good on body parts.................

Ice also goes on clear and does not turn into a white powder it stays clear. The only down side is you have to do small areas at a time because you can't see where you applied the Ice. It is one of the best products for both plastics or paint.
St Pete auto aids formulated the stuff for the Chevy avalanche that had all the plastics turning white.
They dealers where using it to fix the whiting of the plastics great stuff
We will have it on our web site next week as we have been testing on the polaris panels for 3 months of Florida sun

I like armorall ultra shine. It also gives a nice UV protection to the plastic.
