So the problem is K&N never built an oil filter for the 2.4, even after the successful implementation in the Sky and Cruise? I guess that would open a new market for those customers too.

EDIT: sorry didnt read that correctly, thought you said air filter

The filter does absolutely freaking nothing for the engine.
"An aftermarKet & higher flowiNg air filter" will increase CFM into the engines intake, yes. So it will increase power and MPG however, these gains are extremely marginal without keeping that air cool and making sure it gets through the intake plenum with as little turbulence as possible. Then will come the tuning and blah blah blah.

Oiled cotton gauze filters will outflow a standard paper filter ( not by much) but at the cost of filtration. So yes @firetruck you are correct, the stock filter will more than likely get the job done until your asking it flow an insane amount of CFM.

Now in the case of the SS, the stock intake system minus the actual intake manifold is probably among the best designs out there. Bottom feeding "Ram Air" style lid intake systems consistently pull as much cold air as the engine needs. IMO to pull more power out of this system you'll need to dig a little deeper more than likely into tuning the ECU, and deeper yet improve the intake manifold, feed it more fuel and still run that factory intake.

Looks like K&N made one for the 2.4L up til 2010, then nothing.

Alpha Powersport just finished a bolt on air intake that added near 10hp and torque without a tune.
