Ok, so last week I'm lurking around on FB and a friend posts one of the slingshot ad video's. I had not seen or even heard of the slingshot until that point. Since I got my first glimpse of the slingshot video Saturday morning I've seen every photo, video, and read every review. I've had my share of motorcycles, cars, etc, but at this point my toys are all family friendly. I've got a sport fishing boat and an old convertible cadillac. My kids are 10, 8, and 5, so even though I constantly look at sports cars, and bikes like they are porn I have accepted not having a me toy until the kids are a little older. I don't think my wife will go in it much as we would need someone to watch the kids, and that does not happen as often as it should. I think her only hang up would be where am I going to put it. She never complained about me purchasing boats, cars, or bikes, but she had a fit when I bought the caddy. Her biggest concern was where was I going to put a 20' car. My garage is tall enough that I plan on putting in a storage lift some day, but just have not been able to justify it yet.

So, with 3 young kids, not allot of time to use this type of toy as I live in new england, and no real plan on where to store another toy I'm still kind of obsessed with the slingshot. There is a dealer within a 40 minute drive from my house that has a few base models in stock, but I know if I go there I'm leaving with one.

I know that's tmi, but I'm hoping someone will talk some sense into me either way.

Thanks
Bob

This may not be what you want to hear, but those are the ages where you need to spend the time with your kids, not the Slingshot. You won't regret it. They go by so fast, once mine hit 15-16, they pretty much started to want to do their own thing with their friends. Again, my opinion, but looking back, I really enjoyed those times with my kids.

Best memory of my daughter at age 4 was her hanging around watching me work on a completely impractical airplane. She got her pilots license a few years ago and I still love hanging with her.

Include the kids in whatever you do!

I have to agree with Otter. Having them participate in what ever is something that won't last long and are very cherished times. With or without a SS. The issue here sounds like mama's acceptance of the TOY. Lol. Good luck.

I showed one of the video's to my kids this weekend and they where pretty fired up about it. They where not so thrilled about it only fitting one of them at a time though. I only got the caddy because I wanted a convertible big enough to fit three kids in the back. My last bike turned into a commuter vehicle. The sling shot would serve the same role with the occasional girl day when I only have my 5 year old son for a guy day. I'd hate to ditch the caddy, but my wife would love to see it go.

Bob,
My fam is all grown now but started the boy in hockey at 4. Followed with him through College and that's him in the drivers seat. There only young once. We have plenty of time to do what we want when they are out of the house. We just do it a little slower. :)

Justification is a relative thing.

My justification was to get off 2 wheels and have something to do with my kids and my wife. I'm sure we'll hit the car shows in the spring

BTW Hogg - I love the look of the Slingshot helmet - that is bad-a$$
My son said he looks like venom from Spider man
