Hate to contradict you Henry but the angle drive capacity is 0.78 quarts (700 ml) - certainly not a few quarts!
Shit I ment to say a few oz! It's very low fluid amount for what it does and I don't think it's enough to disperse heat and lube right.

Ok back to more beers

Just got the angle drive replaced. MUCH quieter. He said the drive was poorly assembled at the factory, and was so hot they had to wait almost an hour before they could touch it.

I'll be putting a few hundred miles on it in the next few days, so we'll see how it holds up.

Just purchased 2016.5 SL - I have about 300 miles on it since I picked it up three weeks ago. Noticed the leak on the mat in my garage. Gave my dealer a call today (Treasure Coast Polaris in Ft Pierce, FL) - they took a look at it, dealer said three hours to change the seal, drove me home - and I'll get it back in a few hours!

Two front seals replaced shortly after getting the SS, an early 16.5, but no leaks in last 12K. Seems to me someone said, or suggested, there were a batch of faulty seals.

I'm now a victim of the leaking angle drive. I've got about 8k on my 2015 SL. I'm bringing it to the dealer this weekend to get it checked out. I no longer have the warranty, anybody have a ballpark number for how much it costs to fix a leaking seal? From what I can tell it's the side seal, looking from the back it is leaking on the left side of the angle drive unit. I appreciate any insight so I don't get taken to the cleaners...although I might anyway!

My buddies is leaking so I am going to talk him into us replacing it vs warranty work. If we do, I'll document it and a high quality part # to do it.

Lil B pretty much covered this like a year ago so I just need to find his threads on it, but he tore that angle drive apart and pretty much highlighted everything that was wrong with it and what to fix. I just need to find that thread but I am lazy tonight so don't count on instant gratification.

You sound like you want someone to find it for you?

2015 model, 31,000 miles, yesterday during a road trip from Vegas to Texas, angle drive failed. Well, it was screaming so damn loud on the highway I had to stop. Luckily I was in Lubbock Texas and found a Polaris dealer. Technician said a seal failed and I lost all my oil, lucky the rear end didn't lock up. This is ridiculous. They want $2,600 total to replace angle drive. Polaris is charging me almost $300 bucks to rush ship this part so I can ride back to Vegas. One year past warranty of course. I need to call Polaris and open a claim, this seems to be a common issue I am reading. I smell another damn recall.
