Hi all,
New SS owner Is it common for some weird type of noise on take off? It doesn't sound like clutch chatter sorta hard to explain maybe drive shaft?
Been riding and wrenching on bikes for 40 years (well except for that Ducati I had).
Did a few forum searches is it just the nature of the beast?

A whine when running up thru the gears? If so, that the Angle Drive and pretty much normal.

No it's not the whine, from a stop taking off in low gear there is a click/thump type sound also happens when shifting into reverse. If you do a jack rabbit start it doesn't happen.?...

Mine doesn't do anything like that. Sometimes when I initially let clutch out in first or reverse I will hear/feel a very slight click as drive shaft takes up the slack in it. This is normal as my '16 did the same. Perhaps yours is doing same or more; donno.
Maybe someone else, more technical than I, will chime in with some ideas. Suggest you take it back to dealer for inspection.

I have the same thing on my 18 SLR. To me it sounds like a clunk and rattling and is especially evident slow rolling through a parking deck. What did yours turn out to be?
