Cold Weather Riding Gear / Heated Clothing / Extended Riding [ heat / thermal ]

Colorado Springs was a brisk 47 degrees this morning...and for the first time ever...I was thankful for the cockpit heat. I would normally not ride any of my previous motorcycles in weather under 50 degrees, but thought I would be good in the SS. And yep...enjoyed the drive in to work. :)

Put the stock exhaust and cat back on. That'll keep ya nice and toasty. ☺
Never felt too much cockpit heat was an issue, just been bitching about lack of it. Different parts of the country have different problems.

Ok, it's getting cold here in New England. Who's figured out how to heat one of these things? I'd love to extend my driving season, but it's already gotten too cold to make my commute enjoyable. I've had heated gear with my bikes in the past, and I'd rather be able to just turn on the heat. I'm lazy.:arghh:
Unplug some of the holes like I just did for the trip to Maggie Valley in the morning. Supposed to be 56 deg. in the morning. Low at Maggie will be low 50's.

holes on the sides of the tranny tunnel
That is the ones I just unplugged. Left home in May for 1 week in the SS no holes plugged low's was 53 we were good with vest and light jacket.
My Wife grew up in the Rio Grande Valley in McAllen, Texas. Whenever the temps dropped below 70, everyone was wearing sweaters!
As far as heating the Slingshot, I've wondered about placing a 3-4" Bilge blower fan inside the dash to try sucking heated engine compartment air into the passenger area. If possible, some ducts to help direct the air down to the foot area would probably be helpful, too.
I just looked at mine (2016 SS LE) and didn't see any holes on either side of the tyranny tunnel
I never plugged mine- figured I would suffer thru the summer, and see how bad it got. Now- when it is low 50's, (early am) -- a medium jacket, I am fine- BUT..... darned if I don't feel that durn cockpit heat when I want it- I think I would like to ratchet it up a notch! (J/K). Might have to get some sling wings for next summer, however. 95+ got kinda gnarly. Right now, until we get the El Nino they are predicting- riding is PERFECT!

Just below the radio on both sides, between the black tunnel and the painted piece. Good bit of heat from engine. You cannot see them, but check at 60 mph.

Not in my 2015 SL build 641. Only one rubber plug on the passenger side tunnel.

Eric, the air comes out between the 2 panels just above the gear shift on the left and right. Where the painted panel makes the break to the sides of radio

ok some of you have missed my humor i guess.

i meant to say ADD holes to the tranny tunnel in addition to the two holes on passenger side lol

I was looking for rubber plugs
Yes, that would work kind of like the guy that put the vents in the outside panels. But make sure you could close them off for hot weather riding.

One post said thst there was a plug on each side I only found one on the passenger side
On a base model, pop out the tray where the SL entertainment system is.

I did not see that post
I have heated gear, but the prp heated seats are flat out amazing. They will toast your marshmallows.

As Cameron said, get some electrically heated clothing. Think motorcycle, not car. I have a Gerbings heated jacket liner with the option to add heated gloves. My wife runs a heated vest and loves it. HTH.
