Hey guys. Is this forum still active? Any lower mainland Slingshot owner on this forum still? I have been eyeing a new Slingshot for a while now. Just a couple of questions, if you guys can help me answer:

1. For those in the lower mainland, do you guys drive it in HOV lanes? Ever had any problem with the police?
2. Does anybody drive it in the rain? Any issues with traction / stability etc?
3. Any regrets buying the Slingshot? Any reliability issues?

I have a long commute on highway 1 - and commuting on my motorcycle in the rain and cold can be a drag at times! That's why I'm thinking about getting a Slingshot. Thanks guys!
Bought mine in Feb 2015 and have 60,000+ miles --- living in Northern Indiana...I have driven in all kinds of weather conditions except SNOW on the road. --- It's a motorcycle --- has some of the same issues as a two wheeler. Loving mine more every miles I drive...

Hi EjFord. How is it like in the rain? I don't really mind the wetness on my motorcycle, but it's the safety issue I'm worried about (got two young kids now). How is the traction like for the Slingshot in the rain? Does that single rear tire slip and slide all over the place? I'm thinking at least it is not going to fall over when you slide like you would on a motorcycle!

I ridden more miles in the 'rain' on 2 and 3 than I would like to admit. SLOW down. From my experience, it's when you hit a slight 'bump' and come down that you can get a little squirrely on the slingshot.
None of us plan on ridding our Gold Wing(my former ride) or Slingshot in the rain --- care need for both. The Kids will love the Slingshot.

if your thinking of commuting on hwy 1 on a regular basis would recommend buying a good used Slingshot with a roof and higher windshield. As for driving in the rain the usual warning applies Slow Down and Live. Remember this is a relatively new recreational vehicle for Old Harley Riders so some maintenance and recalls are to be expected. If you have a need for speed then you will be introducing yourself to a number of officers otherwise you never see one.

Mine is for sale and I have all season in the front and a wide rear designed for wet roads. Traction is fantastic in the rain, even with the supercharger. The full height windshield and roof keeps me dry when moving so I do not hesitate to drive in the rain.

Traction isn't normally a problem EXCEPT if you get into a hydroplaning condition when there's heavy rain or standing water. In that case it handles it badly... worse than a 4-wheel car. A number of owners have gone off the road or spun when it hydroplaned. So if the conditions are liable to cause hydroplaning and you're doing highway speeds then you REALLY need to slow down or just pull over.

There's some other threads on here about hydroplaning that would show up in a search. This might be one of them.

Posted 2018-06-06 Have begun drag racing my Slingshot on 1/8 mile tracks here in BC. Need help with several things... more Sling owners to come out, advise on set up for drags, etc. Most pressing info needed … want air ride to lift sling about 3 inches to make loading/unloading on trailer easier. Will this suspension work well drag racing it???
All other HELPFUL advice welcome. Also see Slingshot Cruisers - BC on Facebook.

Hi @brace and @Irondragon 25 welcome to the forum and the addiction ! I too am Canadian but Ontario , sorry lol. But if you get a chance to check out my website before purchasing new mods maybe I can help you with the added costs of shipping into Canada as it is a royal pain ! If I don,t have it yet I can probably get it, as I'm adding new manufactures and distributors regularly now. you should talk to @SLLE Canada about a rally they have over in Sundre AB they are having in July. I know its a bit of a haul from Fraser Valley but it might be a slingshot adventure for you.

CANADIAN SLINGSHOT RIDERS YOU NEED TO GET OUT AND SUPPORT THIS.... (COPIED & PASTED FOR YOUR INFO.)

Shout out to all Slingshots. In order for Slingfest to continue into the future we need your participation. This is the only big organized Canadian event really. A huge amount of effort goes into this. We need people registering so we understand our needs better. People are always posting they want to go for rides with people and or asking about organized rides. Here is 4 days of it totally geared up for Slingshot owners exclusively. I 100% guarantee you will have the time of your life. But I need your support. Time for Slingshot owners to show up in force. If your on the fence about it I say do it now. Like I said theres no guarantee I can continue into the future without your attendance. I'm not one of the Slingshot events that's backed by large companies or wealthy individuals. We don't do it for profit we do it for the love and friendship of our fellow Slingshot owners and we need your support.
For those that have already made reservations thank you very much cant wait to see you. And spread the word need your help.
Much love
Mark
