3 Slingshotting Helmet Questions

For those of us who DO wear a helmet while driving our Slingshots, here are three questions.

1. Which one do you wear, or wear most if you have multiple options?
2. Why did you choose it?
3. If you were buying a new helmet for your Slingshotting, what would you choose today and why? I realize that looks like four questions, but four is too many, so...

Scorpion Eco 1/2 helmet, very comfortable for my shape head, reasonable cost, like the flip down shades, fits my Sena Bluetooth nicely. Also own a HJC Flip but stopped wearing it, thought is is too much over kill for SS. Use a MC mask for cooler weather. Owned many helmets over the years the Scopion is my alltime favorite. It's almost like wearing nothing at all.:)

I live in Palm Springs Ca, my sling is my daily driver some days its has hit 121on my ride home twice this week and from late May until mid Sept it will be well over 100 every day.

I actually have 5 tops. they are nice white long sleeve moisture wicking tops and they keep me pretty comfortable - my wife and I have talked about a top for the sling, but she wants nothing to do with it - thinks it goes against every reason we bought the sling in the first place - - and when you get right down to it I think she is right - as to the helmet see my post above the little 1/2 helmet I have is about as close to no helmet as you can get in a DOT helmet
I think it is important to note it doesn't have to be an either/or situation.

Depending on the weather/forecast my Stinger roof is either being used for shade/rain, carried on the back in case of extreme weather or sitting in the shed.

I initially bought my roof for shade. Didn't really like the idea of a roof but didn't like the sun beating down on me in an enclosed vehicle ( I know some of you don't think it's enclosed, but to me sitting in the hot sun it sure felt enclosed to me), and no air conditioning. Unlike a motorcycle where you catch the wind, there's no catching even a breeze in the SS, just roasting.

There was only one roof that I thought looked good on the SS and allowed me to remove and install it easily and also carry it with me. Thereby also giving my SS three different looks, the Roadster, the Coupe and when I am carrying it with me, the Beetle look. i.e. the top looks like beetle wings when carrying it on the back. Never thought that I would consider a roof as one of my top three mods, but I do.

I will disagree with is the idea that you catch more wind on two wheels - I dont know about you, but on two wheels I always felt the need to wear protective clothing that is totally unnecessary on my slingshot - when I pull up to a light next to a person on two wheels and I see them baking in the sun sitting there in their heavy riding gear I thank God I am sitting in my slingshot in my shorts able to actually feel whatever slight breeze there is against my skin

needless to say - I got the coil overs :)
That's where we differ, I see the wind as my friend when I ride and I want to do as little as possible to impede it in hot weather. In almost 50 years of riding I've never owned a piece of protective clothing or rain gear. Man, I see all those riders with all that protective stuff in the hot weather, and I start sweating just looking at them. I've also been known to wear only shorts when riding, and have the exhaust burn scars on my calves to prove it. When I did the motorcycle tour of Cuba last year, I was the only one in the group who rode without rain gear in the daily showers. Guess I'm a minimalist.

The best thing I did to eliminate heat in the cockpit was getting rid of the stock exhaust. Although, I have considered reinstalling during the winter in lieu of a heater. :)

Finally, let me assure from experience, there is a difference 100+ with and without a top. I can't speak to other tops, but if you ever do decide to get a Stinger you won't regret it. BTW, still get the coil overs too.:)
