Just got and installed a 1320 header and center exhaust (stock location) performance muffler. I have after market exhaust on everything I own, and did not think there was such a thing as 'too loud'. Wifey is not a nag, but didn't even want to go on a short ride with me today. Not like her at all, she finally admitted it was too loud for her. I have to agree with her that we cannot talk when accelerating, and can barely talk when cruising. Love the performance, but need to quiet this down. Is the side exhaust with the baffles any quieter with the quieter or quietest baffle? Or has anyone done something to quiet down a 1320 header/exhaust a little.

We really like the Alpha Powersports Electronically Controlled Adjustable Exhaust System. For the most part we run with it closed as we like to enjoy a quiet ride and listen to good music. With the valve closed it is very close to stock sound levels. But there are times when it's fun to hit the button and open it up for some loud fun!!

Good luck.

I recently installed the welter 2 1/2" stealth with high flow cat and it is way too loud. Welter has been great and has been redesigning the system, changing the last resonator to a y pipe with two muffler /baffles to keep the same flow rate. I have not received them yet but this should cut the sound way down.

Thanks everyone. I do not have the exhaust with the interchangeable baffles. The manufacturer had emailed me about the new 'quiet' baffle, and said it can be welded into my pipe (according to them I'll have to cut a little off the pipe too).

I was debating getting the exhaust with the baffles, in case this new baffle was too quiet. But a lot of people say even the quietest baffle that came with the interchangeable exhaust it was too loud. That's why they made a fourth 'quiet' baffle. Right now I'm planning on ordering the baffle, welding it in, and hoping I like the sound!

I think you'll be happy with it. I've put 3,000 miles on mine, and it seems to be getting mellowed. Nice sound.

Can't wait to see what you think of the new system because this is what I want with that high flow cat, quiet and no smell

Update:

I took the SS to my exhaust guy, who I've used for many years. He modified the springs and brackets so it doesn't bounce around as much. He shortened the pipe because I had scraped it a couple times already, even being careful (this was lower than the stock, and we have some steep parking lot entrances). He installed the baffle. I can't tell much difference, to tell you the truth. My son said he thinks it's a little quieter.

I told my wife when we were driving the other day that it may be an 'old man' thing, but if something looks fast, feels fast, and is fast, than it ought to sound fast.

I may try the alpha variable muffler, sounds like the best of both worlds.

I'm interested in this muffler too. My only concerns are if Alpha is staying in business and if there are any still available.
