on various sites I have seen mention of 2015, 2016, 2016 1/2 and 2017 Slingshots. Can anyone tell me the changes that were made between these "model years"? - Specifically what would a 2016 1/2 SL have that is different from the 2016?

2 weeks ago when I bought my 2016 1/2 SL the dealer really seemed to stress that "1/2" part as if it were important - - is it? have things that were issues in earlier years beed addressed such as cracking hoods or radio problems?

    Thanks

I just got a 16.5 SL as well. My understanding is that they just have the heat shield installed to reduce the heat. Didn't think there was much else.

At some point (don't remember when), Polaris changed the support for the side panels and they started cracking from flexing when people put their hand there for support getting in and out. IIRC, the 2017 also have some changes to how the frame and swing-arm are mounted.

It also removed the color stripe from the seats and I believe the lower roll bar covers went to black vs. color matched.

I have the side panel issue. It was like that when I got it from the dealer. Do they have a fix for it?

How odd that they sold you a new machine already cracked or that you purchased it cracked? Anyways, our dealer just replaced our panel yesterday under warranty.

We are thinking now that we are aware of the problem that it would be a simple solution of just not using that part of the wing as a hand hold, though I did go in and modify the mounting bracket for future ease of mind.

Yes .. of course... because it would be way too much to ask or expect for Polaris to correct their flawed redesign of the bracket ......

Thanks, ya beat me to it, a simple DYI fix! :)

So far I believe that Polaris have done a pretty good job in refining their product as unforeseen bugs have been discovered, give them time and I bet they come up with a solution for this lil minor issue also! :)

Don't sweat the small stuff! ;)
