It will be roped off, but because I was one of the first pre-orders in Minnesota I have special permission to sit in it and get a closer look.
If there is any pictures or special request of something you want to see or know please post them and I will get it for you. I will be their in about two hours.
It will be cool if we can see the entertainment system ON....heard music from speaker....
Oh and see the gauges open....and if they have the LED kit install see what it look!
If you can't turn the key...just take some pictures of inside the SS...floor,under the seat...clear view of inside the luggage...where is the second 12V plug(never see where is it!!)

OK, they couldn't turn it on(almost did) because of the large crowds around this thing!
Rear storage is a lot bigger than it looks you guys will be happy!
Floor and other 12V plug pics;
- Second 12 Volt plug is between the seat towards the top facing down
It is not roped off but the red one at haydays is a early pre production and the hood is bolted shut. They are gonna try and get another one there late today or tomorrow so you can see under the hood. get to haydays if you want to see it and sit in it anyone can sit in it.
It's the hottest display at Haydays this year. It's funny because next door is the canam tent and a spyder is out on display and its just being ignored people walk past it like its a turd in the lawn and steer away.
The original plan was for a newer roped off model but this is way better. I didnt want limited time to look at things. First impression is Awesome, second is the pictures don't show the metallic in the paint. I had no idea how cool the red paint is!
Some other observations;
- This thing looks really wide from the front, it's very hard to believe it's only 6.5' it looks 8'.
- Seats look plastic but are a very soft foam!
- It's hard to explain, but sitting in it the way they wrapped the seat around you is very comforting but when you look out the side it's completely open and a little narrower in the front so you truly feel like you could just reach out and touch the ground! Very cool and well done effect.
- One small note, while sitting in the passenger seat there is no grab handle so your tendency is to want to grab the parking brake handle. This could be a problem but I didn't hear anything from the demo rides. I just thought it might be a problem with a passenger.
Thanks for the info, still planning to take a look at it tomorrow. Not good news hearing that the initial shipments may only be two units. That means most production will likely be all SL's and no base models. Waiting any longer than the end of October means all storage this winter. Not going to pass on my place on the list though.
I had to run into work for a little bit, but i got some more info later. A little teaser for ya, I pulled out some cash and asked him how much to drive it away right now. He laughed, smiled and said "you dont want this one, the production models make this one look like it came out of the junk yard!"
Ok, I will just spit this one out right away....
0-60 "unofficially" low 5sss....(5.1 to be unofficially exact)
Top Speed, most Polaris folks don't even know this number but he was on a ride WELL in excess of 100 mph.
When I asked about future model colors he said the next years model should have at least one more choice....leaning towards a blue but no decisions have been made at this time.
He also commented, that they have seen the additional colors being posted here in the forum and noticed blue was showing more interest than the other colors.
Also, aftermarket companies are "feverishly" trying to produce new products. He has already seen tinted windshields and a custom top design, but was not impressed with the first prototype for the top. They have no doubt that it will be redesigned into something users would like.
Polaris has no intentions of producing any Top for the Slingshot due to legal limitations, but they have left many areas on the Slingshot for aftermarket companies to thrive!
That's the kind of news I like to hear. Too bad that there may be limited numbers of Slingshots to start. I can see where Polaris may have under estimated demand but have faith they'll succeed.
The seats they look hard but are so soft and cumfy! Also he stock windshield should be plenty good. One of the factory guys is 6'1" and the wind just barley blows the top of his head.
Thank you!
The floor was a smooth plastic/composite like material. Felt very sturdy, strong and well made, I got in with full weight on 1 foot with no flexing or any concerns.
It was very dirty from the numerous people getting in and out, sorry I had to take a quick picture and get out of the way.
Great information! Thanks for the recon! I must say though, this isn't helping my anticipation levels. As a first in line for a base model, I'm feeling a little bummed on the delivery news! I think I need a drink!
Don't get bummed yet!
To be more precise he hesitated about the answer and flat out said he was not sure what the first colors would be. He then went on to explain that the SL has been more popular so he could see more of them being delivered first.
Another observation I keep thinking about was a small smile he had every time he assured me that delivery would be by the end of October, so the more I think about it they could still be holding out for a little surprise.
It definitely won't be in September but it might even be the beginning of October. He was very clear that Polaris is feeling the exact same way we are. They want these out into the market right now! He gave the timelines I quoted but cautioned that as long as the manufactures keep up there end of the time frames this is where they are at right now.
My dealer had said they were working on a fab top...not sure if I am interested in it...
