Hey guys. I'm the proud new owner of a 2016 Base Model Slingshot. I like a lot of bass and listen to everything from alternative to electronic music to hip-hop to classic rock. I'm thinking about NOT utilizing the space behind the seats as I like how there is storage room back there for helmets and such. I have all marine grade JL equipment in my boat and I love it. What setup / brands / pods / creative speaker locations do you recommend? Thank you in advance!

    Eric

For 4-5k I would just go all JL and call it a day....

I did the clarion cms5 for a head unit front and rear camera on a 3 way switch. Ssv speaker and sub pods. JL 6.5" ZR components, JL cx coxials, JL 10w5 sub, and the 900/5 amp. All jl audio marine grade except for the components. This setup is crystal clear, the sub is very tight and amazes me how good it sounds. At 80-90 mph you can still hear all vocals and feel the bass.
I also added a deep cycle batter and cycle springs big battery kit.

Going to be right in that ball park price range and well worth it if you are an audiophile like me.

Just my lowly opinion BUT I don't believe open air driving is conducive to crystal clear sound. 5k seems an awful lot for a stereo system that's generally going to be ruined by external sounds. IMO, spend a hundred bucks on a decent bluetooth helmet speaker and listen to your iphone. Use the rest for a turbo. Good luck

Are there any manufacturers that superceed JL's quality who make custom boxes / pods / enclosures for the sling? I feel like I'm going to have a hard time getting the sound / bass I want without having subs behind the seats.

I was shocked as well, I didn't think that I would be able to really hear all the high hats and vocals at cruising speed, but none the less I'm very satisfied with the JL setup I did. I have a long history of db drags, sq events, and audio competitions and I couldn't be happier. Just my 2 cents!

    Cheers

You can hear mine at any speed and it makes your ears ring.
Also helps in avoiding all the stupid question.

Some excellent input. So just one sub on one side? Does it bother you (or the passenger) when driving along to have it firing on your back? Any pictures of your setup and pod locations so I can see the space they take up? I like your style. I'm a big fan of JL myself.

No helmets where I'm located and yes, a paint job, rims and a turbo was next. I was going to go with Johns turbo w/ Viengineered but have read some strange things on the forums here. Waiting until mid-late summer for the turbo wars to be over to decide. What manufacturer do you prefer?
