Good info as well. Yeah i saw a pic of this kit yesterday and thought to myself wtf when i saw the sides just glued on. I hooked the reverse trigger wire to the white wire above the transmission down thru the radio hole and all is well for me.

I did not try that at the transmission. I wonder if there may be a difference. I used the negative trigger at the tail assembly. THis may help a lot of people though as your method is way simpler if the radio has that negative trigger option.

If i was doing it over again, I would still use this install kit though. I did not want to cut, and once install, it looks great. I think I was a little hard on it getting it installed too as my RCA jacks came from below. So if you use heavy gauge RCA's, they wedge between that lower slope in the radio hole on the bottom, and the radio itself which tilts the top of the install kit out. It took some maneuvering, but I used tie wraps to pull the RCAs to the left side as I slid the radio in.

Lesson for me.... do NOT use heavy gauge RCAs in the SS. If you do, make sure there is plenty of slack, and tie them to the side so the come into the radio from the side(in the rear) rather than up from the bottom.

Did you buy the wiring harness from slingmods? I noticed that there were 3 wires and a connector but I'm not sure if I would have to cut wires to connect the speakers. Any insight?

Hey guys.. I know this is a DIY thread.. but I thought it worth mentioning that we're about done with our factory backup camera harness for aftermarket head units. It is mostly plug n play and will allow you to not only have "reverse trigger" of the backup screen, but a manual "dash switch" option that will allow you to view the backup camera when not in reverse. We're looking at $24.95 on this! Not as cheap as the DIY version.. but for those that don't have the experience level.. this may be a good option for you.

We also have an FM radio signal booster that is also plug n play that will boost the FM signal on both the factory head unit along with aftermarket stereos!

These are both coming in January!

Yes you will have to cut into speaker wires, I did use that harness for power though.

If you have the newer pioneer double dins, you dont need a switch flr the camera to stay on. You can select it in the source menu.
