Personally, I don't really care why the Slingshot is classified as a motorcycle. W/o such a definition, we wouldn't have this fun and exasperating machine.

So Tri Glides are not motorcycles?
If you ignore all the facts your opinion prevails.

Probably held on with the same glue as the reflectors and hood bumpers...

You have swing your leg over the seat of a tri glide so your sitting on it, not in it like a slingshot. You shift the tri glide with your foot, you shift the slingshot with an automotive style hand shifter. The tri glide has a twist throttle, the slingshot has a gas pedal. Those things make a tri glide a motorcycle and a slingshot a car. The only thing that keeps the slingshot from being a car is one wheel missing in the rear.

I was responding to someone's definition of motorcycle as "2 wheels sitting inline."

It's irrelevant what anyone thinks as the slingshot only fits into one vehicle classification and that would be motorcycle. The funny part is that no one had an issue with the Morgan, Cushman or T Red being produced in the motorcycle class.

I have been following the reverse trike field for many years and lots of old school bikers objected to reverse trikes being classified as motorcycles, usually using many of the same objections posted here.

That is Websters definition. The state of Oregon defines a motorcycle as a vehicle that has less than 4 wheels, that is not a farm tractor or moped. Oregon is a horrible state, don't move here.....it sucks!

I don't care what you classify it as but my title has motorcycle on it. I have never called it my bike (it has three wheels not two) it's my slingshot.

I just call it a hell of a lot of fun and Big Brother can go phuck themselves. Look at what we have to choose from 11/08/2016. I wouldn't trust these idiots to change my diaper if I was a baby.

    Yeah. I said it. ;-)
