"Everyone loves a great American comeback story. In addition to building Indian and Victory motorcycles, the flexible factory assembles a new three-wheeled product called the Slingshot, which is a cross between a motorcycle and a roadster. Assemblers will also soon begin building a new all-electric motorcycle called the Empulse TT.

Scott Wine, chairman and CEO of Polaris, credits that phenomenal success to an aggressive product development strategy and an operational excellence initiative."

Yep, even the rear needle bearing is flexible! Someone's been drinking a lot of...

Okay, guilty, I drink it too. Even with its' flaws, I LOVE my Sling! The needle bearing issue is my main gripe. Hasn't happened (yet) but it puts a damper on my enjoyment... Polaris (or aftermarket), PLEASE fix this!!!

I'm not gonna dance to their drumbeat. In typical greedy manufacturers fashion, they weren't content with bringing groundbreaking products to the market, they had to attempt to further bolster their bottom line by deleting features and components while increasing the prices.

They are inconsistent in implementing their warranty for claims, their dealer network sucks, they allow dealers to charge customers for services that are clearly covered under warranty giving the dealer the opportunity to double dip. Their field reps are a joke. They lack knowledge of the product lines, and focus on floor displays and sales with no attempt at improving the customer experience.

This company is completely motivated by sales numbers and bottom line and don't give a rat's derrière about the actual people that buy their products.

@Wriggly Don't sugar coat it! Just tell it like it is. Not all the faint at heart can handle it here.

"All vehicles produced at the plant are built to order, using a recently implemented retail flow management system that allows dealers to place orders daily. It has enabled Polaris to reduce its order-to-delivery time from 120 to 15 days."
This clearly is not the same system they use to supply the dealers with rear axle needle bearings !

It was still a very interesting read. Keep complaining cause at some point, and all successful companies do, they will begin to put systems in place to listen to their customers.

Say what you want about the Slingshot's problems, from a guy that worked in setting up manufacturing plants and programmed PLCs, the plant is pretty cool, and the fact that it is assembled here creating jobs, some parts are created here (welded frame and plastics) is another thumbs up.
